The Lok Sabha Interpreter Exam is a competitive exam conducted by the Lok Sabha Secretariat to recruit Parliamentary Interpreters. Parliamentary Interpreters are responsible for interpreting speeches and debates in the Lok Sabha from one language to another.
The exam is divided into three parts:
Oration Test: This test is conducted to assess the candidate’s fluency, language content, style, pronunciation, accent, material content, and voice.
Written Test: This test is conducted to assess the candidate’s knowledge of General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General English, and the language they are applying for.
Simultaneous Interpretation Test: This test is conducted to assess the candidate’s ability to interpret speeches and debates in real time.
Interview
The successful candidates are appointed as Parliamentary Interpreters in the Lok Sabha Secretariat. They are responsible for interpreting speeches and debates in the Lok Sabha from one language to another. They may also be required to perform other duties such as preparing transcripts of speeches and debates, translating documents, and providing language assistance to members of Parliament.
The salary of a Parliamentary Interpreter is in the Level 10 of the Central Government Pay Matrix, which ranges from Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month.
