What is Rajasthan High Court Translator Exam?

The Rajasthan High Court Translator Exam is a competitive examination conducted by the Rajasthan High Court to recruit candidates for the position of Translator. The primary role of a Translator in the High Court involves translating legal documents, judgments, and other materials between English and Hindi. This position requires strong language skills, a good understanding of legal terminology (legal terms, legal maxims, Latin Phrases), and the ability to work with precision and accuracy.

Eligibility:

Educational Qualification:

Candidates typically need a postgraduate degree in English Literature or Hindi Literature with proficiency in both languages.

Age limit:

A candidate for direct recruitment to the Service must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have attained the age of 40 years, on the first day of January next following (01.01.2025) the last date fixed for receipt of the application. There shall be no age limit in the case of widow and divorcee women candidate. The upper age limit shall be relaxed by five years in the case of the member for the Scheduled Caste or Other Backward Class or more Backward Classes or Women candidates. The upper age limit for the reservists, namely defence services personnel transferred to the reserve shall be 50 years.

Exam Pattern:

Recruitment shall be made by holding a test in English and Hindi translation Candidates shall be given passages in English from the Judgment and Records and shall be asked to translate them into Hindi. Similarly, passages in Hindi from the Records or from some other Books etc. shall be given and the candidates shall be asked to translate them into English.

The written test typically includes:

  • Paper- I English to Hindi Translation carrying 100 marks with total time 02 hours.
  • Paper-II Hindi to English Translation carrying 100 marks with total time 02 hours.

Note:

  • A candidate shall have to secure a minimum of 55% marks in each paper and 60% marks in aggregate.
  • Both the papers will be taken in two shifts of two hours each on a single day.
